I bought the car Feb.1st 2001 from Marty Horvath and paid $5500. Had it towed to Dale Warren’s garage. Spent 2 years and too much money getting it where I wanted it, as you will see by the following lists. Should have known I was in trouble when Joe Ballor charged me $136.00 for towing.
When I bought the car it had a plain Jane 350 CI motor. No cam, no anything to make it go. As a matter of fact the motor was tired. It had 85,000 thousand miles. The rear end was ready to go, and did a few months later. The steering was loose. The ball joints were junk. The shocks were shot. You name it and it was.
The first time I saw the car I liked it, so I guess I asked for what was to follow. I’m well into the 2nd year and still have a long way to go.
Todays date is 7/17/02 and the car is getting ready to receive its third motor since I’ve had it. Took the plain Jane out and put the motor out of my 64 SS in. That motor was also a 350 CI. The difference is, this motor had 4 bolt mains, three quarter cam, and 2.02 heads. Would run halfway decent but I still wasn't satisfied. A guy at work was always bragging about how quick his Camaro was. Couldn't stand it, had to do something. The solution was to change engines again. This time more horses.
Back to the drawing board! Looked around and found a couple 396 big blocks motors for a decent price, and figured what the hey, give it a try. Sent one motor to St. Clair Engine Rebuilders, and walla, two months later I had a 600 horse power motor. This motor should eat his Camaro if I can get it to hook up correctly.
I have saved all my receipts, at least, the biggest share of them. After I tally this up, I might wish a few more receipts got away. Following is a list of what I have.
